I have taken 2 classes with Chris (CHL and Handgun). In both classes, safety is paramount. In my latest class, Chris took the time to explain every aspect of the handgun. To secure your seat in the class, please make sure you have done the following prior to class:

Place a deposit or payment for you seat by clicking the register button for your appropriate class and date. Registration page to Sign up Now Click here

What do I need to bring?

  • Pen and paper or notebook
  • Pistol semi auto 32 caliber or larger. If you do not have a pistol you may loan one from Alamo Defense.
  • If you qualify with a revolver you will not be able to carry a semi-automatic pistol, however if you qualify with a semi auto you can carry either semi-auto or a revolver.
  • 1 50 Round box of Ammo must be commercial quality Examples: Winchester, Federal, Blazer, CCI, Speer, Remington, Fiocchi, Hornandy, PMC, Black Hills
  • Ammo NOT allowed: Any reloads, Monarch, Magtech
  • Eye and Ear protection: If you do not have you may rent/buy at the range.
  • If the weather is going to be hot please dress approprately and bring water!
  • $10 dollars cash for your range fee. Almost all ranges only take cash so have this on hand.

Alamo Defense teaches at many different locations, so to ensure you have the right location, click on the List of Classes Page.  Then click on the text link next to "Location" for your particular class. (See picture below for visual reference)

In order to get your Concealed Handgun License faster: 

Register online with the Texas Department of Public safety : Texas DPS CHL Registration Click here

The Texas DPS CHL Registration must be done in order to get your CHL; however, it is optional if you want to do it before the class or after.  To expedite the process, I recommend registering prior to your class.


***Renewal Information: all above info is also required, except for fingerprints (renewals are no longer required to retake fingerprints or photos). Renewals are requried to requalify with a handgun, so please bring all equipment for shooting as noted above.
